Philiminality Oxford was launched in February 2018 by a group of Oxford graduate students from a range of University faculties, including Philosophy, Theology and Religion, Politics and International Relations, and the School of Geography and the Environment. Over the course of the last two years, the Society’s committee have put together a number of panel discussions and Conferences covering a variety of topics in theoretical philosophy, political philosophy and environmental ethics across cultures.

Philiminality also has a chapter in Cambridge, where the Society was first founded by Philosophy student Lea Cantor (Philiminality Oxford’s current President) in 2016. Past events have covered a wide range of thinkers and philosophical questions in the history of global thought, to probe accepted conceptions of an insular “Western” corpus.
